a warm welcome to our wedding and to our wedding blog.

For those of you not necessarily familiar with what a blog is, it works as an online shared diary where you can post comments and questions and anything else you would like to share with everybody. Just click the "Post a Comment" button.

We have collected various pieces of information that will hopefully make things easier for you. Accommodation Options

The reception dinner will be held at Långbers (http://www.langbers.se/), a hotel with stunning views over Lake Siljan and the surrounding landscape. As we are very keen to gather all our guests as close to us as possible we have negotiated favorable room prices for you at their premises.

Since our latest communication we have negotiated a further discount on the price for Friday night (applies also to reservations already made). The prices are:

Friday 5th of August SEK 350 per person in double room
Saturday 6th of August SEK 500 per person in double room

If you don't fancy staying at Långbers there are 7 other hotels (http://www.infotallberg.nu/) in the small village of Tällberg. The closest one is Green’s Hotel - approximately 15 min uphill walk to Långbers.

August is a very popular and hence busy period around Lake Siljan with a whole array of activities going on. This is great fun but equally implies that reservations for rooms shouldn't be left to the last moment.

Should Långbers get fully booked - put your name on a wait list! We have also made a provisionary reservation for a limited number of rooms at Green’s in case Långbers gets fully booked. The reservation at Green’s is made in Patrik’s name. Unfortunately no discount.

Travel to/from Tällberg

We recommend you set up camp in Tällberg, which is the village where the reception dinner will be held. Tällberg is approximately a 15-minute drive from Rättvik, which is where the wedding ceremony will be held.

A) If you travel to Sweden from abroad, there are several flight options to consider:

1) the most convenient airport to fly to is Stockholm-Arlanda, serviced by most major airlines. From the airport you can either go by train (approximately 3 hours) or get a rental car and drive (also approximately 3 hours).

The car rental agencies are located some distance away from the terminals. There is a shuttle bus every 15 mins which picks up outside all terminals (bay 19?) and drops you at the rental agencies. Please keep in mind that the rental agencies all close at midnight (sharp!) so you may want to avoid arriving by air later than 23:00.

2) fly low cost Ryan Air to Stockholm-Skavsta. From the airport you either go by bus to Stockholm Central (1 hour) where you can then either go by train or by bus with Swebus (4 hours) up to Leksand or Rättvik (15 minutes away from Tällberg) or you can pick up a rental car (approximately 4-5 hours drive to Tällberg)Check out Swebus timetable and availability at http://www.swebusexpress.se

3) fly low cost Ryan Air to Västerås and pick up a rental car (approximately 3 hours drive to Tällberg)

B) Regarding trains, there are direct trains from Stockholm-Arlanda to Tällberg. If you call in advance and let the hotels know when you will be arriving in Tällberg most of them will pick you up at the station and take you to the hotel. Unfortunately, direct trains are not too frequent (particularly not during evenings and weekends). Should you decide to drive, please go to the Map section of this blog. Watch out for moose and deer especially at dusk and dawn! Since public transport is somewhat limited in the Dalarna area, one advantage of having your own set of wheels is that you will be able to see a whole lot more of beautiful Dalarna outside of Tällberg.

Dress Code

We want everybody to enjoy being at our wedding without thinking too much about what to wear. As much as we both absolutely love dressing up in full out formal gear, bearing in mind that we are getting married in August when hopefully the sun is out and the heat wave is on, we have decided to spare our male guests the potentially gruesome experience of having to wear heavy, double layer wool clothing in the shape of black tie and our female guests the somewhat uncomfortable custom of having to wear gloves to the full gala dress. Hence our dress code for the wedding is "Dark Suit".

Now you probably think what does this entail? Not to be too descriptive, but rather give all our guests from different countries and cultures some support, in short this is what it means;

for Him:

dark blue, dark grey or light black suit, white shirt, silk tie or bowtie in all colour
combinations except white or black, dark socks and black shoes
National costume (folkdrakt, kilt, lederhosen etc)

for Her:

dress made out of evening material such as silk, satin, chiffon etc either knee or calf length
skirt or trouser suit accompanied by top or jacket to same material standard as dress
Attending church stipulates covering up bare shoulders
National costume (folkdrakt, kilt, lederhosen etc)

Kids or No Kids

This may sound a tad harsh, but basically, we would prefer no children at either the church ceremony or the reception dinner.

Having said that, we do realise that there are several very good reasons why children should participate, e.g. children breastfeeding, children of guests arriving from abroad etc. Should you find yourselves pondering between joining us for our wedding in Dalarna or stay at home because no baby sitter available, don't want to leave the kids etc, then bring your children. The important thing is that you join us in August, with or without kids.

You can also look at the wedding as a wonderful opportunity to get away together and take a small brake from your children.

Gift Ideas

You know that we already have a lot of stuff. However, should you still want to give us something anyway, please visit one of the gift registries we have set up at Harrods in the UK and at Duka in Sweden. Amazingly neither Harrods nor Duka offer an on-line shopping service, so here is how you do it;

1) Harrod's; you will need to call them on +44-20-7730 1234, make sure to mention that you would like to purchase something off a Gift Registry for a wedding so ask for the Weddings and Celebrations Services. You have to mention our Occasion number 16106. They will fax you our gift list complete with price information. Should you find something you would like to give us, you can then make a purchase with credit or debit card via phone +44-20-7730 1234 or fax: +44-20-7581 0470. Harrod’s will store your purchased gift for us to pick up after the wedding.

2) DUKA; purchases can only(!) be made in a DUKA store (there’s 60 or so of them throughout Sweden). Any store will pull our gift list complete with price information off its computer. Should you find anything you would like to give us, you purchase it in the store and bring it yourself to the wedding reception.

3) Finally, a different approach which we quite like, is for you to donate money to your favourite charity.

Menu and Dietary Requirements

For the benefit of all our foreign guests with a somewhat limited access to Scandinavian culinary experiences, we have seized the opportunity to create an exciting menu that will consist of a variety of local delicacies and specialties. The menu will contain both fish and meat (game).

Should you have any particular dietary requirements, for whatever reason, please let us know as soon as possible in order for our chef to arrange suitable alternatives.
